The NBCC Board of Directors and the Boards of the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) and the NBCC Foundation take notice of the resignation of Dr. Andreea Szilagyi, who served NBCC in various capacities since 2004, including International Counselor in Residence, Associate Vice President and Vice President of NBCC International. Dr. Szilagyi’s work in promoting NBCC’s mission of advancing counseling internationally has contributed to the professional field.
From the beginning of her employment, Dr. Szilagyi raised awareness on how counseling can improve people’s lives in her home country, Romania, as well as in other European countries. Dr. Szilagyi’s passion for the counseling profession led her to manage the establishment of organizational offices in Romania and Portugal, ultimately serving as the President of NBCC Romania and the Vice President of the European Board for Certified Counselors.
Throughout her tenure at NBCC, Dr. Szilagyi utilized innovative approaches in promoting the counseling profession in Europe. Dr. Szilagyi organized international conferences that attracted stakeholders from established domains and helped NBCC create relationships with international universities. Dr. Szilagyi used these conferences as a springboard to work collaboratively with institutions interested in integrating counseling in their curricula, including teaching classes as faculty for several universities. Dr. Szilagyi was also a frequent speaker and panelist at counseling related conferences across Europe.
Dr. Szilagyi’s active international engagement led NBCC to task her with the goal of implementing certain credentials. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Szilagyi has been recognized for assistance in facilitating NBCC’s partnerships with members of the academic and governmental sectors. We wish Dr. Szilagyi well.
