When and how did you begin working with NBCC?
My husband, son, and I moved here from Chicago 21 years ago, and I began as an Executive Assistant at NBCC a little over five years ago. My previous work background was definitely storied and interesting: I have taken dictation at board meetings that included Oprah Winfrey and Lee Phillip Bell, who with her husband created and produced The Young and The Restless as well as The Bold and The Beautiful; I’ve worked for Martha Stewart; and I’ve appeared on an episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous—in the background for a client, but it was a speaking role!
What is your role with NBCC?
I started at NBCC as Executive Assistant to the COO and later became Executive Assistant to the CFO. I am now the Executive Assistant to the VP of Credentialing & Quality Assurance. My hand has been in many pots, which I think is helpful, as I know a great deal about NBCC but learn more every day! The focus of our division is on certification, credentialing, examinations, and ethics.
What do you enjoy about your work with NBCC?
I enjoy the fact that the entire company is compassionate about those we serve and our stakeholders, and they also take a great deal of interest in their employees.
What are your interests outside of NBCC?
My granddaughter, who was born on my birthday and turns eight in January, is the love of my life, along with my husband, my son, and my son’s girlfriend. Professional football is something we love, and we follow the Chicago Bears as well as the Carolina Panthers. Over the last 24 years I have been fortunate enough to have attended over 275 professional football games. Long story, but I am truly spoiled. We have a menagerie of pets, including three rescue dogs, one rescue cat, and a lion’s mane bunny.
Who is someone you look up to in the field and why?
I truly admire everyone in the field—those who have spent long hours hitting the books and dedicating their lives to helping others, whether it be in a school setting, with underserved or never-served communities, or with the general public. I also admire my teammates as we pitch in and work as a team, doing all we can to ensure our stakeholders have all the tools they need to accomplish their goals.
