Reps. John Katko (R-NY) and Grace Napolitano (D-CA), who co-chair the Congressional Mental Health Caucus, have introduced H.R. 2431, the Mental Health Professionals Workforce Shortage Loan Repayment Act of 2019.
The legislation would provide loan repayment to mental health professionals seeking master’s and doctoral degrees, including counselors, of up to $250,000. Reps. Katko and Napolitano introduced this legislation during the last Congress, and NBCC will be working with their offices to ensure successful passage this year.
