NBCC board director, Michael Brooks, PhD, NCC, LMHC, LPC-S, was recently awarded a presidential citation by American Counseling Association (ACA) President Kimberly N. Frazier, PhD, NCC, LPC, LMFT, at the 2023 ACA Conference & Expo held in Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Michael Brooks received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College and master’s and doctoral degrees in counselor education and supervision from the University of Central Florida. He is a professor of counselor education at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he is also PhD program coordinator in the Department of Counseling. Dr. Brooks’s research centers on Black male success factors, counselor education pedagogy, and ex-offender recidivism and vocational rehabilitation.
We recently spoke to him about receiving the award and his recent work and research.
