NBCC and the Medicare Mental Health Workforce Coalition (MMHWC) hosted the Medicare 601 webinar, “The Enrollment Process for Counselors and MFTs,” on Nov. 17, 2023.

Representatives from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the law firm of Weintraub Tobin reviewed the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule, provided step-by-step enrollment procedures, and answered frequently asked questions related to enrollment and opt-out procedures.

NBCC and Affiliates Legislative Research Manager Jolie Long provided opening remarks and introduced our speakers.

Jeanne Vance is a shareholder in the Corporate Group of Weintraub Tobin, where she focuses her practice on business and regulatory health care law. She has been an attorney for 29 years, with experience in business and regulatory health care law with a focus on Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment, licensing and certification, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and negotiation, and health law.

Alisha Sanders serves as Director for the Division of Enrollment Policy & Operations within the Provider Enrollment and Oversight Group in the Center for Program Integrity at CMS. She is responsible for developing enrollment policies and procedures across the Medicare program and working with the Medicare Administrative Contractors and other stakeholders on provider enrollment and program integrity–related issues.

Gina Aughenbaugh serves as a business function lead with the Provider Enrollment and Oversight Group in the Center for Program Integrity at CMS. She is responsible for providing operations and policy guidance related to Medicare provider enrollment.

“We are thrilled with the progress that has been made and that coverage of MHCs and MFTs has officially begun,” says Long. “This webinar was a huge success in ensuring clarity now on how to proceed.”
