Members of the House of Representatives and Senate have left Washington D.C. for their annual summer recess. Although there is plenty of unfinished business Congress still must address, including finishing the appropriations process, the recess gives members of Congress an opportunity to return to their states and districts.
Many senators and representatives will use this time to tour sites in their districts and hold events to hear from constituents. This presents opportunities for board certified counselors to ask their elected officials directly about H.R. 945/S. 286, the Mental Health Access Improvement Act of 2019, which would allow counselors to bill Medicare for their services.
The Town Hall Project is a nonpartisan organization that gathers information and posts about town halls elected officials are holding. If you attend a town hall event, be sure to take along our Medicare Infographic to refer to, and also please let us know at govtaffairs@nbcc.org.
