NBCC supports National Certified Counselors (NCCs) and the counseling profession through government affairs initiatives at the federal and state levels. NBCC works with public and private stakeholders to implement policies that increase access to and funding for counselors.
Additionally, NBCC is a sustaining member of the Fair Access Coalition on Testing, a national organization that works to ensure that the public has access to psychological and other testing instruments.
NBCC promotes legislation to make counselors Medicare-eligible providers.
NBCC supports service members, veterans, and their families and promotes ensuring access to qualified mental health counselors.
NBCC spearheads the effort to create a federal job classification for the counseling profession that allows hiring across all government agencies.
