The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) is dedicated to excellence. This dedication led NBCC to pursue accreditation in October 1985 by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). NCCA is the accrediting body for the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), the leader in setting quality standards for certification organizations. NBCC’s National Certified Counselor (NCC) certification is accredited by NCCA.
To maintain NCCA accreditation for the NCC certification, NBCC must demonstrate that its process for development, implementation, maintenance and governance of the program is valid and reliable. The NCCA standards are comprehensive and cover all aspects of the NCC certification program, including administration, assessment development and recertification.
