If you took one of our examinations on computer, your scores are automatically sent to your State Board approximately 4 weeks after your exam date. Please check with your State Board before requesting a score verification.
The cost for sending your scores to a third party is charged per verification (not per exam). If you would like multiple examination scores sent to the same location, all examination scores can be verified for the one fee.
Score Verification Fee varies by status type:
Active NCC - National Certified Counselor (NCC) or applicant who took the NCE as a part of the national certification application. Score Verification Fee: $25 plus any past due fees
Inactive NCC - A former NCC who took the NCE as part of the national certification application and the certification has expired. Score Verification Fee: $60 plus any past due fees
State - Verification for those who took an examination as a part of an application for state licensure and registered for the exam through the state. Score Verification Fee: $25

For all National Certified Counselors (NCCs), verification of their certifications and scores is included in a score verification. If you are not an NCC, verification only of your scores is included.
If your location is listed below and you tested for a state credential, NBCC cannot verify your scores. You will need to have your scores verified through the state agency where you tested. If you tested for National Certification, we can verify your scores.
Yes; however, if you took the NCE as a graduate student, it was a step in the process of national certification and you are required to submit the documents listed below before your scores can be sent to a third party. Once the documents are received, reviewed and approved, a score verification request can be processed.
PLEASE NOTE: If you submit a score verification request with your documents, it will not be processed until the review is completed.

To have your examination scores sent to a third party, order a score verification from our online store. If you are a current National Certified Counselor (NCC), your score report will also verify your certification.
If you tested for the purpose of state licensure and are not an NCC, please use the downloadable score verification request form.
You may pay by check (payable to NBCC) or by credit card. If you pay by credit card, please include your credit card number, expiration date, cardholder's name and signature, type of credit card, amount to be charged and statement giving us authorization to charge your card. We accept American Express, Visa and MasterCard.
What will delay the processing of my scores?
It takes approximately 4 weeks from the date the fee is charged to your account or from the date your check clears. Once you send your score request, please check with your banking institution to find out the date you were charged the fee for scores. You may estimate the time your scores will be sent by counting approximately 4 weeks from that date. You will receive a post card in the mail after your scores are sent.
Before calling NBCC, call and speak to the contact person listed on our Web site for your particular state. The directory of state boards can be found here. Please check with the NBCC Examination Department if there is not a contact name listed for your state.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU SAT FOR ONE OF OUR EXAMINATIONS WITHIN THE LAST SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS, YOUR SCORES CANNOT BE EXPEDITED TO YOU OR A THIRD PARTY.
If you are an active NCC or a candidate for state licensure, download the Standard Express Score Request Form (above). For $55 (plus all past due fees if applicable), delivery is expected eight business days from the date the faxed request is received. For $75 (plus all past due fees if applicable), delivery is expected two business days from the date the faxed request is received.
If your NCC credential is expired, download the Express Score Request-Inactive NCCs Form. For $95 (plus all past due fees if applicable), delivery is expected eight business days from the date the faxed request is received. For $115 (plus all past due fees if applicable), delivery is expected two business days from the date the faxed request is received.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU REQUESTED YOUR SCORES OR TOOK YOUR EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONE YEAR AGO, YOU WILL HAVE TO REQUEST YOUR SCORES BE SENT AGAIN AND PAY THE APPROPRIATE FEES.
