NBCC International
Grant Opportunity for MHF Research

NBCC International (NBCC-I), a division of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), manages the Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) program. The MHF is a 30-hour curriculum that trains laypeople, paraprofessionals and professionals from outside mental health in areas such as helping skills and referral. The MHF was developed in consultation with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse of the World Health Organization to help correct the imbalance between mental health care needs and resources.

As part of the MHF program's continued growth, NBCC-I will evaluate the program's effectiveness. To that end, NBCC-I is offering NCCs who hold a doctoral degree the opportunity to apply for a grant worth up to $8,000 that includes a $3,000 stipend from the NBCC Foundation provided in support of the MHF evaluation, plus additional funding from NBCC-I for travel, accommodations and meals for the required travel to Malawi and Mexico. For more information, please refer to the explanation statement.

If you meet the requirements and are interested in being a part of this project, please complete the application and send it, along with your curriculum vita, to Dr. Wendi Schweiger (schweiger@nbcc.org) no later than January 15, 2012. You can also mail the requested materials to:
