CE Provider Applicants

The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) works closely with its continuing education providers to ensure that they maintain the highest standards in mental health training.

Choosing the Correct Application

Single Program Versus Approved Continuing Education Provider

Single Program (SP)Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP)
Description

Single program approval allows you to offer NBCC credit for a live, real-time program that has been reviewed and specifically approved by NBCC for credit.

Important: Programs are approved for 12 months.

ACEPs are authorized to offer NBCC credit for programs that satisfy NBCC policy requirements without submitting an application for each new program.

Important: Providers approval will not expire as long as they meet all requirements to maintain their ACEP status.

Distinguishing Requirement

Submit an application featuring a live CE program to be offered in the future.

Submit an application featuring two past, live CE programs that satisfy NBCC policy requirements or one home study program. Online programs must be fully functional and ready for review.

Appropriate application choice if:

You do not have a history as a CE provider.

All of your past programs have been cosponsored.

You only plan to offer one program a year.

You have two past programs to submit.

You would like to offer programs without submitting an application each time.

Wrong application choice if:

You would like to offer NBCC credit for a home study program.

(You must use the ACEP application for home study programs.)

You would like to offer NBCC credit for a live program and you have not presented two past live programs that meet NBCC Provider Policy requirements.

(You must use the SP application if you do not have documentation of two past programs. After you offer two programs, then you can apply to become an ACEP.)
