Recertify Your NCC
If you do not recertify by the deadline, your certification will lapse. Log in to reinstate your lapsed or relinquished certification.
In order to maintain certification, you must:
- Adhere to the NBCC Code of Ethics.
- Pay annual certification fees.
- Complete 100 clock hours of continuing education every five years. (A percentage of the 100 hours must be in the specialty area.)
You will receive your annual maintenance fee statement by e-mail approximately 45 days before the payment due date. All fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. By paying the annual certification fee, you attest to adhering to the NBCC Code of Ethics. If you need to update your e-mail address or other contact information, log in to ProCounselor.
At the end of your five-year certification cycle, you will receive a recertification notice. In addition to paying the annual maintenance fee for that year, recertification requires you to attest that you have followed the NBCC Code of Ethics and completed 100 clock hours of continuing education that meets NBCC requirements. You are not required to submit your continuing education documentation to NBCC unless randomly selected for audit. You can conveniently log your continuing education in ProCounselor so that you are prepared when it comes time to recertify.
